How-To: Quick And Easy Hollywood Waves
How-To: Quick And Easy Hollywood Waves
This is a quick guide on how to get loose Hollywood Starlet curls with a simple curl and clip-in technique - perfect Saturday night hair in a matter of minutes! I usually go for this technique as I can get the majority of hair styling out of the way at any point during in the day. This saves more time in the evening for makeup application when you're getting ready :)
Prepping the hair extensions..
To start with you shall need some large or medium barrel curling tongs. This achieve a more relaxed wave as opposed to a tight 80's poodle perm - never a good look. I use Babyliss Glamour Waves which were a steal for under £15 on Amazon. Obviously you shall also need a lovely set of Lush Hair Extensions! I used an 18" Deluxe set in shade #60 Lightest Blonde.

Babyliss Glamour Waves Curling Tong
- I put the heat to around 170-185 degrees for the tongs. Take a clip-in piece and make sure you only curl around 2-3 inches of hair at a time, any more and the heat can't be evenly distributed through the hair. Wrap the hair around the barrel and hold for around 6 second. I sometimes leave the hair on for a bit longer but this will dry out and frazzle the hair if left on for ridiculous amounts of time. After curling add a touch of hairspray to the clip-in piece.
Follow the natural curl when you place the piece down to set
- Now - you want the curl to set so your hair remains immaculately styled for as long as possible on your night out I imagine! Set the fully curled piece down on a flat surface and follow the wave you have created with the tongs so the piece looks as shown above. I usually curl mine in the morning so the hair can remain in the curl for a good few hours.
Time to clip in your Lush Hair Extensions!

Pre-curled Lush Hair Extensions all clipped in and good to go
- As I've already curled my hair extensions, I just need to quickly as a few curls to my own hair with the Babyliss tongs and clip the hair extensions in as normal. Curling the entire set of hair extensions should take you no longer than 5-10 minutes and clipping in the extensions (if you're a bit of a pro) should only be a further 10 minutes.

Cocktails o'clock! My hair still remains wavy a few hours (and Rocktails) later
Of course your curls shall drop slightly throughout the night. I find that leaving the curled hair extensions to set throughout the day really minimises this.
Does anyone else use this technique? Or do you have an even faster method?? Be sure to let us know by leaving a comment below :)
